Palestine Palestine

Palestine is one of the founding countries of the International Dates Council and joined the Council on 27 February 2014.

  • The Dates Sector in State of Palestine

Date production in Palestine reached approximately 16.6 thousand tons in 2023. Production is concentrated mainly in the Jordan Valley region, particularly Jericho, which enjoys highly suitable climatic conditions for producing premium-quality dates. Major Varieties • Medjool (Majdool): The most important commercial variety, distinguished by its large fruit size and high market value. • Barhi: Consumed during both the Khalal and Rutab stages. • Limited local varieties used primarily for domestic consumption. Exports and Markets Palestinian exports are predominantly based on Medjool dates, targeting the premium segment of international markets. Principal destination markets include: • Europe • Gulf countries • North America • Regional markets The competitiveness of Palestinian dates is driven by the quality of Medjool dates and modern packaging practices. However, it is influenced by transportation, refrigeration, and logistical costs. Growing demand in Europe and North America for premium and organic dates presents a significant opportunity for export expansion.
